Antique collectibles have a wide range of items in their list. Collections of items related to the past – items of early craftsmanship or things no longer in use, but having old memories attached to them – all fall into the antique collectibles list. Antiques include paintings, idols, statues, feng shui models, jewelry, hand crafted items, decorative arts, clocks and watches, and silver and silverware.
Many collectors preserve these items for fun or as their childhood memories. There are also collectors who collect these antique items to gain huge profits. There are many new, amateur and experienced collectors always on the hunt for precious antiques.
Interior designers collect antiques for beautifying their designs and to add that extra touch of class to their creations. There are antique dealers who purchase them for a low price and sell them for huge profits. Antique collections like porcelain pots with china paintings could be priced from $45, and there are antiques which go up to millions of dollars.
Master painters like Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci left great treasures behind in the form of their paintings and they are still the most sought after pieces of art. Great grandfather clocks and huge wall clocks that were handmade and keyed mechanically are a huge hit among antique collectors and dealers.
Antique collectors on a large scale buy feng shui idols and traditional china statues. There are many sources from which collectors can purchase these antique collectibles, from antique dealers to Internet sites, to exchanges made among collectors themselves.
New collectors can have a look at the various types of antique collections at museums and exhibitions where collectors’ collections are put on display for one and all to look at. They may inspire the amateur collectors and help them to go ahead with their collections.
Before a young antique collector goes ahead with buying an antique collectible, he/she should keep in mind few points. First the price tag: you should not let a cheap price tag tempt you to put hands on something that you otherwise would not go for, and should not let a high price tag scare you away from a genuine antique.
The key term in buying an antique is investment grade antique. The collector should decide whether the antique he intends to buy is really worth it. Genuine antiques and rare collections of art are really worth every penny you spend on them.
