Winter bedding should ideally be made of thick material that will keep you warm during the winter season. Wool mattresses, cushy feather beds, wool blankets, soft flannel sheets, and down comforters are excellent winter bedding.
Choose the right combination of bedding that assures you a comfortable sleep during winter nights. The most common winter bedding materials are wool, fleece and luxurious materials like silk and satin. Winter bedding is available in different sizes and styles, all made to meet specific winter needs of both the young and the old.
Bedding made of wool withholds the hot air, thus keeping you warm even in very cold temperatures. Cotton materials are often useless during winters, but cotton quilts are recommended for winter use.
Down comforters with light fluffy bird feathers as filling are luxurious bedding items that are good insulators against cold. Down comforters vary in quality and price and the most expensive ones are made of 100% pure white goose down. However, these are not good for those who are allergic to feathers.
Satin and silk are luxurious winter bedding that contribute elegance and style to your bedroom. Satin and silk bed covers, sheets and pillowcases are available at reasonable prices. Silk is a natural hypoallergenic material and can be used safely.
Polar fleece, a man-made polyester fiber is very soft, lightweight and capable of holding air in the cavities of core fibers to keep the body warm. Polar fleece blankets can be compactly stored when not in use. You should take care to properly clean, dry and store your winter bedding so that they will last long.
