Platform beds can be a wonderful addition to any bedroom – or simplification tactic for those who want a more Zen-like lifestyle – but the price can be so prohibitive. One would think that simple beds should come with simple prices – but they don’t. Many platform beds can cost thousands of dollars or more for queen and king size beds.
You don’t have to pay full price for a platform bed. You can take advantage of a platform bed’s lovely simplicity, elegant lines, pleasingly low profile, space-saving under-bed storage space, and skeletal support – at a fraction of normal retail cost. Sometimes you’ll be able to pay as little as 1/3 of the regular price.
There are a number of ways to go about finding discount platform beds. One way is to keep an eye on the local classified listings. You might be able to catch a great moving sale, yard sale, estate sale, or other kind of sale, and get a great used platform bed. Another avenue towards discount platform beds is via liquidation or closeout sales, auctions for the seized property from bankruptcies, and so on. These will yield brand new beds, sometimes for as little as one-tenth of the book cost!
Another way to find a platform bed at a very reduced rate is online. There are a number of websites promoting discounted or “overstocked” platform beds.
The other thing to keep in mind when hunting for good deals is that, just because a bed doesn’t cost full price, that doesn’t mean your money isn’t valuable. So be sure to ask about what kind of warranty and/or guarantee is included with the platform bed.
