Buying real estate in Utah, like anywhere else in the world, can be both exciting and scary. A home is a major investment costing hundreds of thousands of dollars and purchasing one shouldn’t be taken lightly. The first step to buy property in Utah is to decide where you would like to settle. With about 85,000 square miles, Utah is the 13th largest state, so you’ll have plenty of locations to choose from. Also, its diverse natural attractions and the local environment may influence where you’d like to buy.
The farther west you travel in Utah, the drier the climate becomes. The Basin and Ridge region are full of small mountains and salt flats, and are among the driest places in the US. The Great Salt Lake sits just inside this region to the north of the state. The Colorado plateau covers the Southern and Eastern parts, and if you like canyons, this is the place for you. Bryce Canyon and Zion Canyon provide breathtaking hiking routes and vistas. If you are interested in residing in southern Utah, check out cities like St. George. Lastly, the Uinta and Wasatch ranges of the Rocky Mountains stretch across the northeastern part of Utah. With many flat-bottomed canyons and peaks that reach over 13,000 feet, the Uinta range is the only range in the Rockies that runs east to west and not north south. The Uinta peaks are high enough to boast glacial activity. The geography of Utah provides many options for nature lovers, making it hard to decide where to purchase real estate.
