The invention of compact discs several years ago brought about a new era in the field of data storage and transmission. From music and movies to games and vital data, these sleek devices have become the standard way to store information. As these devices are widely used, the need for their mass-production is of utmost importance.
A CD duplicator is the ideal device for this purpose. These wonderful devices are used to produce multiple copies of the discs at a time, saving valuable time. CD duplicators can be broadly divided into two categories; those that are connected to a PC host, and those that operate independently. The latter type is popularly known as a stand alone CD duplicator.
Stand alone CD duplicators perform the same function as a normal CD duplicator but without the assistance of a computer host. These devices are ideal in places where one cannot have a fully functional PC, such as live concerts and outdoor events. The stand alone CD duplicator brings added convenience and functionality to the duplication process. Since a computer is not needed in this process, this device can actually be used as a portable device and moved from place to place.
Stand alone CD duplicators may be either manual or automated. The manual type needs manual assistance to check the CD recording process while the automated one engages a robotic disc handling system to load and unload the recorders.
The tower duplicator is the most popular type of stand alone CD duplicator on the market today. These devices can simultaneously record between 3 to 16 CDs at a time. The speed of recording can be adjusted; the fastest recorders copying one CD every 3 minutes. The cheapest single CD stand alone duplicators start at a price of around $300 while the multiple CD auto-loading ones can go up to $3000 or more.
With their affordable costs, great features and conveniences, stand- alone CD duplicators have definitely made the process of CD duplication a less difficult and time consuming one.
