Snow skiing is becoming an increasingly popular form of sport and recreation all over the world. Places on some of the world’s best mountainside have developed and come on to the map only because they became popular as skiing destinations. Skiing is great way to experience the snow and the right gear for the sport can make it all the more enjoyable.
Skiing sunglasses, although not on the top of the skiing equipment list, are nonetheless very important for additional safety. They are responsible for protecting the eyes during high-speed tear down slopes from the flying ice and debris. For those who prefer skiing in wooded areas as opposed to the piste, skiing glasses are indispensable to save the eyes from damage due to overhanging branches and twigs. However, the main purpose of ski-glasses is to keep the sun out of the eyes and allow skiers to have clear vision of the path before them. These sunglasses also keep the ultraviolet rays of the sun out of the eyes and thus protect the delicate corneas form damage. Many a times, people choose the wrong sort of skiing sunglasses that don’t fit properly or those with lenses that shatter at high speeds, and end up compromising the safety of their eyes.
If a few factors are carefully considered, then even novices can pick up skiing sunglasses best suited for them. The first factor is the color of the lenses, which depends up on the skiing conditions. The general rule is that the darker the light, the lighter the lens color should be. Next comes the fit of the sunglasses. While judging the fit, individuals should be sure to check that the strap is flexible and strong and that it fits perfectly with the helmet. Those who wear prescription glasses should ensure that they fit beneath the ski-goggles. The last, but perhaps the most important feature of ski sunglasses that need to be examined is the fogging of the lenses. Generally, single lens glasses fog up more easily than multi-lens glasses. Also, certain lenses are treated with chemicals to reduce fogging. Individuals also need to check the peripheral vision of the ski sunglasses and opt for those that offer the maximum view.
