Self-contained underwater breathing apparatuses are more commonly called “scuba”. For a diver, the quality of his scuba gear cannot be compromised, as it is a matter of life or death. Purchasing high-quality scuba gear is essential as diving can be hazardous. Scuba diving gear is as personal as the clothes one wears. Even the trendy and the fashion conscious can purchase a scuba diving gear of exceptional quality but with modern styles and attractive colors.
When selecting a scuba gear, a diver needs to select a few essential elements and a few accessories according to his preference. Initially, scuba gear was comprised of only the fundamental equipments without which scuba diving is impossible. In modern times, as the sport has gained immense popularity, multiple choices in gear are available on the market.
Scuba essentials include diving suits and tanks – all divers must have these. The suits help control the under water body temperature and the tanks allow the diver to breathe underwater. Diving masks, snorkels, diving fins, hoods, regulators and air monitors allow a person to complete a dive without complications. This gear is available in traditional and modern designs.
Accessories, on the other hand, can make a diver more comfortable. The common accessories that a diver may decide to carry are tool packs, repair kits, gauges, nitrox wrist computers, an oceanic compass, and dive determination computers. One can also choose from a vast array of picture cards, underwater cameras and 2-way radio communication units.
Use of buoyancy compensators for balance, cold-water gloves, warm water diving gloves, dive flags, knives, helmets and underwater lights is also encouraged. One may also purchase diving weights and belts, harness vests, safety gear, safety lights and underwater noise making devices. Standard gear is usually available at registered scuba stores in variable sizes, catering to every need a scuba diving enthusiast could possibly have. Selecting comfortable scuba gear is critical and requires considerable attention.
