Reducing costs and providing excellent personalized designs, residential architects help in creating the right house for us.
Residential architects, just like other architects, train at universities and institutes offering graduate and undergraduate architectural programs and courses. Students enroll in architecture programs and courses, which are certified by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole authorized agency for accrediting programs according to some, stated objectives and standards. Universities like State University of New York, University of Virginia, and many more generally provide such graduate and undergraduate programs.
Students graduating from the certified courses are considered professionally competent to enter the architectural field. However, certain states require an additional licensure to allow architects to work independently. Many states even require their architects to have an ongoing continuing education to help them be informed and educated about advancements in the field.
Certain institutes exist to lay down codes of conduct and govern the behavior of architects, besides representing them and their interests. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the chief representing body of all member architects in the U.S.
Besides the aforementioned functions, it also provides a support network for all residential architects. Online newsletters and other tools help architects to stay informed about current issues and ongoing discussions. Design quality, affordability, innovation, sustainability, and user satisfaction are some goals which are sought by residential custom architecture and which AIA members try to fulfill.
Some residential architects include Colvin Design, New York; SALA Architects, Inc, Minnesota; Kevin Kennon Architect; William Fellows Architects; Polshek Partnership Architects; and Kaplan McLaughlin Diaz Architects – besides many others. While Polshek Partnership Architects have a team of AIA members and create projects which are renowned internationally, Kaplan McLaughlin Diaz has won over 120 project awards, which include 35 from the AIA.
Residential architects help in every way, from sketching a proper functional and beautiful design to creating a home exactly the way we desire. They turn dreams into reality and help in creating our own personal space, filling our world with happiness and contentment.
