It is an academic and applied field concerning the study of the mind, brain, and both human and nonhuman behavior. Psychology also refers to the practical application of such knowledge to diverse spheres of human activity, including problems of people’s daily lives and the treatment of psychological illness.
The concept of psychology has become extremely popular in recent times. Since it’s a medical concept, there are a number of terms generally associated with it. These terms may sound unfamiliar to a person not possessing a medical background; however, people requiring information on psychology are required to know these terms.
Neuropsychology is a term that is generally associated with a branch of psychology that tries to understand how the structure and function of the brain relate to explicit psychological processes. Psychotherapy is a set of techniques proposed to improve mental health, poignant or behavioral issues of individuals, or a whole family’s interaction climate.
Psychoanalysis is a technique of psychotherapy that seeks to expound connections among unconscious components of patients’ mental processes. Psychopathology refers to the manifestation of behaviors and experiences, which may indicate mental illness or psychological injury. Clinical psychology is a term associated with the application of psychology to the understanding, dealing with, and appraising of psychopathology.
Psychometrics and statistical methods are the terms associated with the research methods used in testing psychologically related cases. Psychometrics is the field of study that deals with the theory and method of psychological measurement. It also includes the measurement of knowledge, talents, attitudes, and personality traits. The term ‘statistical method,’ on the contrary, is a mathematical science dealing with the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data.
Psychological terms refer to the words or phrases commonly used while dealing with the main subject of psychology. Adequate knowledge of the same is required while using them.
