Plane Tickets

A ticket is a paper slip or card indicating that its holder has paid for or is entitled to a specified service, right, or consideration. Airline tickets are one example. Plane tickets have become much cheaper these days due to the growing demand. Moreover, traveling by plane is a quick way to reach one’s destination, so people prefer to travel by plane.

In Old French, estiquet meant “a note, label.” It was changed into etiquet in French, and the word was then adopted into English in the 16th century without the initial ‘e’. The word ‘tiket’ was recorded in 1528. Then it became the modern English “ticket”.

Plane tickets are booked for domestic and international airlines. Some of the domestic airlines are AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, Aloha Airlines, America West Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, SouthWest Airlines and United Airlines. The prices of the tickets may vary depending on the distance, luxury, and company.

Plane tickets were once booked through travel agencies. But nowadays things have become easier. You can buy them online by paying through with credit cards or debit cards. The source, destination and the travel date, when specified, gives a list of flights that fly during that day. And the availability of seats depending on the class, i.e. business class or economy class, is displayed. The customer can now check for the availability before choosing.

Most airlines and travel agents charge an extra fee for printing and delivering paper plane tickets to passengers. An electronic plane ticket, or e-ticket, is just as safe as paper plane tickets, and harder to lose. Also, more and more airlines feature self-service check-in kiosks that let passengers with e-ticket plane tickets save time.

Passengers prefer to book online or through travel agents, to save time. Everything is available online, so you can take advantage of online convenience.
