Outdoor Shades

Shades add charm and elegance to the windows. They serve both utilitarian purpose by providing shade and the visual charm due to their vibrant colors and patterns. During the extended and ruthless summers, window shades such as louvers, sunscreens, shutters, and awnings play an important role in keeping the light and heat of the sun out. Outdoor shades are found to proffer seclusion as well as safety.

It is due to the solar shades that the air conditioners are seldom used, saving on the electricity front, and also help in protecting the furniture from getting damaged by exposure to the sun. However, it is important to bear in mind that total blocking of light is not desirable. Hence, it is necessary to strike a balance between the light that is required and that needs to be blocked.

Typically utilizing outdoor shades are found to be more energy efficient as they prevent the sunrays from entering the homes. At times, it becomes necessary to open up the windows for a better view of the surrounding landscape. In such instances, a retractable shade is a great help, as it allows light to be let in when desired. A retractable shade or awning has additional benefits in providing shade to the outside areas, without the requirement of additional posts.

An important feature for awnings that are made of fabric is that they can be rolled up when not required without damaging or creasing the material. If the awning is wet, it is advisable not to roll it up, as it is prone to get moldy.

A demountable shade structure is especially useful in case the awning is required only during summers. These structures can easily be taken off and kept away during winters.

Outdoor shades are known to come in all types of colors and designs but if cooling is the main aim, then it is advisable to go in for light colors as they tend to reflect heat where as the dark shades absorb heat.
