Mini security cameras, as the name implies, are very small and thus often regarded as hidden cameras. These are the smallest and cheapest of all security cameras available. Mini security cameras will have a size of only some millimeters. They are widely used in banks, stores and other public areas which need increased security. Now, more and more people choose mini security cameras for their home and business safety. Some parents install them in every room for close surveillance of their children.
Mini security cameras come with many options such as with or without special managing software, choice of wired or wireless options, black and white or color resolution, and infrared and night vision characteristics. They are available in many types such as bullet and dome cameras. Day/night mini security cameras use infrared-LED to show scenes in darkness. Some new devices with waterproof metallic cases are specially designed for continuous outside use.
Mini security cameras are so small that you can hide these cameras in or behind any object around you. These are often mounted in a firm attachment somewhere inside or outside of the building. Most mini security cameras have fixed lens – 3.6 mm or 5 mm pinhole lens built inside. These lenses give an output of 65-85 degree angle view. The resolution power varies from 150 lines to 420 lines and they often have 0.5 to 0.1 lux in low light environments.
Mini security cameras provide real-time monitoring, aid in identifying security breaches, reduce loss from theft, help in evaluating employee performance, and record processes for research and development. They transfer images, either through wired or wireless connections, to storing and monitoring devices such as a computer, VCR or to Internet sites. Many cameras are stand-alone systems, which store images in built-in discs instead of transmitting them.
There are many online vendors who provide mini security cameras through their online sites. You can select from a wide variety of brands and models. Prices of mini security cameras start at about $40 and can go up to $600 or above. A B/W camera with infrared lighting and integrated microphone is available for about $65 and a color camera with same configuration is available for about $90. Before selecting a model, determine your surveillance needs, purpose and budget.
