Medical Uniforms

The importance of wearing medical uniforms was established when Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in the medical field, saw the need to provide maximum comfort to medical professionals and guarantee the highest level of performance when working long hours at hospitals. Her actions strongly influenced hospitals, and, medical uniforms are part of the dress code in medical facilities throughout the world.

There are many examples of medical uniforms. These include doctors’ scrubs, lab coats and dental scrubs. Medical professionals wear these uniforms according to their field in order to provide comfort and more mobility while at work.

Doctors who perform surgery or work in emergency rooms use doctors’ scrubs. Operations can be exhausting and very stressful for doctors, not to mention the smell of anesthesia, the blood and all the other chemicals that can ruin every day clothing. Wearing scrubs may not relieve the stress and pressure but can certainly provide protection and contribute to a smooth operation or procedure, since the doctor can move easily without worrying about the confinement of inappropriate clothing.

Lab coats, just like scrubs, provide doctors with the freedom to move about and perform procedures without worry about fluids that can be dangerous when they come in contact with the skin There are several types of lab coats that include female lab coats, male lab coats, consultation lab coats and unisex lab coats.

If the first two medical uniforms protect doctors, the dental scrubs work in the same way and just as well for dentists. Dental procedures and operations can be messy, and these scrubs protect dentists from getting messy during procedures. Not only that, children commonly hate going to the dentist. And so dental scrubs can have cartoon characters on it to distract children during the dental procedure.

All these medical uniforms come in many different fabrics, styles and colors. The traditional white medical uniforms are not the only colors available today. Many colors are now available with designs that are sure to please anyone in the medical or dental fields.
