Home Buildings

Structures built for the purpose of residence are called as home buildings. Home buildings can be of several types such as cottages, bungalows, villas, manors, buildings, skyscrapers, etc. People in areas with lower densities of populations have single or double storied structures for residences like villas, cottages and bungalows; while people in huge over-populated cities like New York and Washington live in tall buildings and skyscrapers, where people live in apartments.

Recent buildings are mostly erected with concrete. Framework is of reinforced concrete and walls are made of specialized bricks. These structures are made tenacious to weather and disaster conditions. Even in single storied residences there are provisions for lightning conductors, earthing points, disaster meters, etc. Steel, iron, aluminum, glass, wood, etc. are some of the other materials that go into the making of a home building.

Usually home buildings are built in suburban parts of cities, away from industrial areas. People living in bungalows have their own lawns and drive-ins, along with separate gates and security guards. However, people living in apartments share a common building with facilities like elevators, gardens, parking lots and a common security system.

The home in which a family stays is a social indicator of their financial status. Bungalows and manors are more expensive to construct or buy than apartments. People can even rent houses in buildings or live as paying guests in other peoples’ homes.

Construction of a home building is a job that requires special engineering knowledge and a huge amount of investment and human and machine power. This is done by contractors. Constructing homes is not just a structural task; it also involves a lot of aesthetics. Architects look after the task of making each home unique; crafting special patterns for flooring, rooms, etc. and even attempt to make the exterior of each home building different. People can also design their own homes from several plans that are freely available on the internet with the help of do-it-yourself kits.

Today, homes are considered to be the prime necessities for human existence. Buying a home is not always an easy task. It requires a proper thought process regarding financial investment, distance from the workplace, availability of facilities like markets, recreational and religious places, etc. Banks provide loans for buying homes, which are payable in equated monthly installments over a period of time. Insurance companies provide coverage of home buildings in case of disasters and accidents.
