Those who have an obsession for water sports and are planning a vacation should consider Hawaii. Hawaii is the perfect place for scuba diving. The water is warm and clear and filled with colorful fish and coral reefs. To have a truly fabulous scuba diving experience, Hawaii is the place to go. It has eight different islands to choose from, and, each island has different characteristics with several diving locations. Throughout the islands there are diving equipment shops that are located next to hotels and resorts for the convenience of travelers. These diving shops allow travelers to rent scuba diving equipment. Trained divers teach vacationers different skills necessary for scuba diving. The different types of marine life, corals and lava formations define Hawaii as one of the most preferred scuba diving destinations.
The Hawaiian waters offer diving skills for all levels. There are many habitats that people can explore including the coral reefs, caves, small caverns, lava tubs, drop-offs, sandy bottoms and basalt boulders. Diving from the shoreline in Hawaii is restricted at the time of high tides. During the summer season, the water is calm and clear on the Kauai and Nihau islands. The islands in the south, namely the Oasis reef, and the Sheraton Caverns are exceptionally adventurous for divers. If people are looking for more challenging environments, they can swim side by side with dolphins and seals by diving in the northern part of the Nihau Island. On the main island, people can visit the Kohala or the Kona coastlines. There are spots such as Pine Trees, Place of Refuge, Cavern Point that offer a level of difficulty for beginners, as well as for advanced scuba divers. The depths here range from 10 feet to 130 feet.
Scuba diving can be dangerous, but trained professionals are available so that necessary precautions can be taken. Many vacationers who are new to the scuba diving world can take tips and suggestions from professionals, Internet, travel magazines or can attend various training programs.
