HDTV has become the latest innovation in digital television. The high definition television (HDTV) which comes with high resolution pictures and surround sound is the future of DTV. A HDTV television set is the best way to enjoy television programs.
Based on the difference in the working methodology, HD televisions can be broadly classified in to two; HD-capable sets and HD-ready sets. The former model requires an external HDTV receiver/decoder to display HDTV signals on the screen. The latter model comes with an inbuilt HDTV receiver/decoder built.
Currently, the HD televisions are available in four different display models. This includes direct view, rear projection, front projection, and flat panel. Among the four models, the flat panel HDTV is the cutting-edge model in television technology. There are two types of flat panels; LCD and plasma. Direct view television was the earliest model. In this type of television set, the display screen was placed in front of the cathode-ray tube (CRT) and the screen size was limited up to 40 inches.
Rear projection televisions, also known as big screen TVs, come with cathode-ray tubes or digital rear projections. Screen sizes of rear projection televisions will range from 40 to 70 inches. Front projection HD televisions are embedded with LCD or DLP technology. These types of television have screens ranging from 30 to 100 inches and are quite expensive.
Today, the television market is flooded with different brands and models of HD televisions. Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Philips, Pioneer, and LG are some of the leading brands of HD televisions. To meet the individual needs, the HD televisions are available in different price levels. On an average, the cost of the HD televisions will range from $500 to $10,000. The costs will fluctuate based on the technology used, type, size, and brand.
Depending on the availability, HD televisions can be availed from any of the outlets, wholesalers, or electronics stores. For better options in price and model, an online store is the best place to shop. dtvcity.com, shopping.yahoo.com, and search.ecoustics.com are some of the online stores to shop for a perfect HDTV for your home or office.
