The mattress came into being centuries ago in the Middle Eastern nations where kings were known to lay down on the floor using cushions as a comforting base. From cushions to large mattresses, the journey has been long, innovative and constantly developing. Today, mattress manufacturers of global repute work in tandem with medical science to provide healthy and comfortable sleep on foam mattresses.
There is a wide range of foam mattresses that provides comfort in accordance to need. Viscosity, density, hardness, firmness, softness, etc., all depend on the person’s prescribed needs. A feather-soft foam mattress is not recommended for people with back problems, but firm ones that do not change shape according to pressure are.
The latest invention in foam mattresses is known as memory foam. These mattresses are also called intelligent foam mattresses, as they take the body shape in accordance to density pattern. In the case of the high-density foam mattresses they react according to body temperature and are generally recommended for people suffering from spondilysis and back problems.
The low-density foam mattresses made from visco-elastic polyurethane react to pressure and mold into the body shape in accordance to pressure on it. This is extremely comfortable and is generally used for baby and children’s bedding.
There are some companies that also make customized foam mattresses in accordance to one’s essential needs, as prescribed by the medical practitioner. And apart from the mattresses, they also provide foam pillows. According to the medical community, the quality of sleep is one of the essentials that determine a person’s well-being, and keeping this in mind mattress manufacturers have a team of researchers and developers who attempt to create foam to enhance one’s sleeping patterns for a healthier life.
