Drums find application in musical performances like rock, jazz, and other contemporary music events. Drum hardware is the framework of a drum kit and it is comprised of drum shells, stands, lugs, hoops, tension rods, bass drum pedals, drum racks and tom mounts.
Each part of the drum hardware has its own unique function. Drum shells form the foundation, and the framework comprises stands, lugs, hoops, tension rods, bass drum pedals, and so on. Lugs are the pieces of metal attached to the side of the drum, and they help to anchor the drum hoop (or rim) that is fastened with tension rods. Hoops hold the drum head in place and provide even tension for ideal tuning. Tom mounts are used to hold the drums up and are available in a variety of designs. Drum stands provide the support and flexibility to position toms, snares, cymbals, etc. Bass drum pedals, operated by the feet of the drummer, are a vital part of any drum hardware. Drum racks allow you to set up your equipment neatly.
Drum hardware is available in a wide range of sizes, shapes and metals at different prices. Steel drum hardware is widely known for its precision and strength. Drum hardware used professionally has to be replaced after a particular period of time. To facilitate drum playing, many manufacturing companies produce advanced drum hardware, with a reduced number of pieces. In some kits, the hardware is reduced to five pieces. Five piece sets are convenient for fast shipping, and affordable.
