Costa Rica Travel Agents

Gaining in popularity as a holiday destination that offers something for everyone, Costa Rica is seeing a steady stream of visitors from Europe and the U.S. Some are so enamored of the country that they have purchased second homes there, or made plans to relocate on retirement. Tourism is a major foreign exchange earner and the country is fully geared to attract visitors and cater to their various needs.

Tourists planning trips to Costa Rica can leave all their arrangements in the hands of travel agents who offer services ranging from online bookings to working out custom holidays for clients. Most of these travel agents have an Internet presence and offer attractive packages in addition to a number of allied services. With competition increasing, each agent vies with the others to offer value-added services to customers.

PuraVida Travel, for instance, claims to find ‘great discounts’ on hotels ranging from all-inclusive resorts to hideaway cabins. The family-run Zarpe Travel has been creating tailor-made vacations for clients for more than 20 years. The 30-year-old Miki Travel Agency deals in vacation, medical, and business packages, and includes in its services private transportation with a bilingual guide-driver, rent-a-car facilities and villa reservations. Others offer airport transfers, Harley-Davidson tours, temporary housing and shuttle bus services.

If you’re planning to visit Costa Rica in the high season between December and April it makes sense to book your holiday in advance, since the number of hotels hasn’t quite caught up with the increasing influx of tourists. Vacation rentals at the beaches require bookings at least six to eight months in advance. Several travel agents provide bi-lingual services, a great help in a country where the official language is Spanish.

The best way to choose a travel agent is to surf the Internet and compare the packages and rates offered. Better yet, get a friend who has already traveled to Costa Rica to recommend a good agent. Costa Rica can offer up a bewildering choice of places to go and things to see, so it’s best to leave the planning to someone who knows what they’re doing.
