Nothing is as frustrating as a computer system that fails at regular intervals and has annoying problems that hamper work. Whether for personal or business purpose, the system needs to be in good health. Keeping a computer free from viruses and conducting regular virus updates is just one small portion of computer health check.
Diagnosis precedes the check. It is important to make observations regarding the sound of the drive and the speed. This gives the first indication that something may be wrong. Some applications take a long time to open while some error messages keep popping up. When the computer starts showing unusual symptoms, it is time for a health check.
The system in use has a help tool that runs a regular check and gives tips on troubleshooting. It shows the status of the system hardware and software.
A health check shows whether the hard disk is fine and if the RAM is sufficient. It also ascertains that all the drivers to support the various hardware components such as the network card or the video card are intact.
System monitoring tools are used in the first level of checks. A system tool however cannot detect intricate problems such as the processor temperature or a problem with the fan. Those checks will require another checking system. Computer health checks can be conducted in depth by using WMI scripts. There are other scripts for system health check ups too. For example, there are scripts to check the status of the local area connection. These checks are known as third party checks.
To keep the machine in a good condition, maintenance must be regular. Certain checks should be done on a daily, weekly and yearly basis. Daily tasks include backup of data, updates of virus and dust removal. The weekly check should include removal of spyware and adware, as well as virus updates. Disk scanning and updating the operating system from time to time is a good idea, as well.
Regular health check ups for a computer ensures fewer problems for the user and a longer life for the system.
