Drum sets include musical components such as drums, cymbals and other percussion instruments, which are usually used by bands playing rock, jazz and other contemporary music. Since drum sets are an assembly of different drums and other instruments, it normally requires a lot of space, especially when kept at home. A full size drum set is difficult to move from one place to another due to its heavy weight, and as a result, can be a challenge to maintain. As a result, nowadays, smaller drum sets with a more compact set up are preferred from a maintenance point of view. Compact drum sets are put together in a manner that they take up very little space. This feature of compact drum sets has made them popular as they are much more convenient to store and maintain as compared to full-sized drum sets.
Though compact drum sets are very small in size, they are unbelievably powerful in terms of sound output and performance. Most compact drum sets are designed in Sweden and are manufactured with high quality standards in mind. Most compact drum sets come with all the hardware required (excluding cymbals), while traditional 5 -piece drum sets include everything from drums to cymbals. Earlier, the smaller drum sets were chiefly available as toys for children and the real compact drum sets were very expensive. Today’s compact drum sets have the features of a full size drum set and are more affordable at the same time.
Compact drum sets have small sized snare drums and brass drums along with a special low positioned snare stand that provides the right playing height and easy access to the rack toms. Compact drum sets are suited for young people who are in the process of learning music and require smaller drum sets for their cramped stages and rehearsals in college. They are very convenient as they fit easily into small spaces and are affordable for amateur musicians. Most importantly, it is possible to create the same sounds and effects using new-style compact drums as with a big drum set.
