Commercial Saunas

Found in most public sports centers, famous hotels, ski resorts, fitness centers, swimming pools, and other commercial facilities, commercial saunas are rooms designed to uphold dry heat environment with high temperature. These are found in varying size options.

Commercial saunas require different design strategies than residential saunas. The size of commercial saunas ranges from 6′x6′ to a maximum of 10′x14′. However, the standard sizes is 6′x8′, 6′x9′ and 7′x10′. These are designed to accommodate seven to 10 people at a time. Other infrastructures inside a standard sauna include large capacity rock container, double thickness benches (typically 8′ in height), a drain, waterproof floor, gas or propane heaters with built-in timer and thermostat, separate control panel with locking cover, and wood finish thermometer. The upper bench inside a sauna has more heat than the lower bench. Once the temperature is raised to a maximum level, it requires only a little power to maintain constant temperature.

Commercial saunas are specifically designed for day long usage, so proper insulation is required to prevent heat loss. To make the bathing enjoyable, the sauna should have facilities to maintain heat down to bench level. In addition, heat can be maintained in a constant level by reducing the ceiling height and raising the benches levels up to 36-40 inches for the top and 18-20 inches for the bottom. Draft-free ventilation system with an adjustable shutter is required for a comfortable sauna. Usually, all internal fittings are wooden with corner doors and studio design windows. In addition, stainless steel saunas are available for commercial use.
