Larger establishments like restaurants, offices and airports use commercial coffee makers. These machines are capable of brewing over 100 cups of coffee at a time. They have a very high-capacity heating element to ensure ideal an idea brewing temperature of over 200 degrees and maintain the coffee at 180 degrees after brewing.
The filters used are made of a very high quality charcoal. Most of them are made with an alloy body, stainless steel lined heater and a thermal carafe. Commercial coffee makers are high tech machines. They brew coffee by straining it through a filter and then pouring it into a jug. The jug can be lifted off and immediately the coffee stops flowing out of the filter. These machines are capable of brewing large quantities of fresh coffee.
Commercial coffee makers include large capacity boilers with a high steaming capacity. A three-way solenoid valve relieves water pressure off the coffee when the brew switch is turned off. This prevents the coffee from dripping. The boiler temperature is controlled by an adjustable pressure thermostat and has a built in gauge that reads the temperature accurately. They are equipped with sensors that turn on the pump when the water level is low. It also acts as a safety valve and turns off the boiler if the level in the reservoir gets too low.
Super automatics are the most expensive of the commercial coffee makers. They make coffee of a superior quality and the size of the reservoir is large. Super automatics are fully programmable. The machine can be set for strength, texture of the coffee beans, water level, temperature and quantity.
Commercial coffee makers need regular cleaning. Some automatics and all super automatic espresso machines are self-cleaning. Most machines can be programmed to clean at set intervals.
Large establishments such as hotels, airport lounges, cafés, offices and commercial establishments usually prefer buying a commercial maker as the utility value justifies the cost of the investment.
