In normal circumstances, adoption agencies are not linked to any specific religious groups or faiths. However, there are certain agencies that have an affiliation with a particular faith, such as Christianity. Christian adoption agencies act the same as any other adoption agencies; in fact, they even conduct adoption procedures for those who are not religiously affiliated. If you have a predilection for Christian children or Christian adoptive parents, you might consider a Christian Adoption agency.
Generally, there are two types of Christian adoption agencies. The first is denomination-specific and the second is non-denominational. A denomination-specific agency refers to Catholic Charities, Lutheran Social Services, Methodist Homes, and LDS, while non-denominational Christian adoption agencies include Bethany Christian Services, All God’s Children, and others.
No matter which of the two types of Christian adoption agencies (denomination-specific or non-denominational) you choose, the process is sure to be very involved. Adopting is one of the most trying ordeals a person can go through. You will be researched very thoroughly, as if the Secret Service was researching you before a trip to the White House. Your background will be laid bare for the agency to see. This is to ensure that the child is being adopted by a responsible prospective parent who will love and care for the child all the way through to adulthood and beyond. You might have to pay some very hefty adoption fees to pay for the care that was required for the child up until adoption. This is true for all adoption agencies, Christian or otherwise.
