Advances in cosmetic medicine have ensured that cellulite is a curable skin condition. People around the world suffering from this skin ailment try various remedies to get rid off the ‘orange peel’ skin. Although several modern-day treatments are available in the market today, the best way to treat cellulite is to take the necessary precautions to avoid its occurrence.
However, in cases where prevention is too late, modern day treatments can prove immensely beneficial. The most popular treatment for cellulite is what is known as Endermologie. This non-surgical treatment, developed in France over a decade ago offers the most effective cure against cellulite. This form of treatment involves the usage of a motorized device with two adjustable rollers and controlled suction, to massage the affected part of the skin. The skin gently folds and unfolds, increasing blood circulation. The treatment also dispenses unwanted toxins and abnormal water buildups. This process is one of the best treatments for cellulite, but as it involves several sessions, each costing between 50 to 150 USD, it is beyond the reach of an average person.
Liposuction and Mesotherapy are the surgical ways of treating cellulite. While the former surgically removes fat, the latter injects drug into the cellulite. Several experts do not recommend Liposuction as it is designed to remove deep fat and not the layer lying close to the skin (which is what causes the appearance of cellulite). As a result, it can cause bleeding, swelling and scarring which worsens the appearance of cellulite.
The safest and most affordable cellulite treatment is the use of cellulite creams and lotions. Xanthines are a key ingredient in several cellulite creams but several studies have shown that they have little or no effect on cellulite. Retinoids, which are Vitamin A derivatives, and Alpha Hydroxy Acids are also commonly used in several cellulite creams and lotions. Although, these are cheap and popular, the long-term benefits of these are still under debate in the medical world.
Other popular cellulite treatments include herbal body wraps and herbal supplements, electrotherapy and massages. The duration, price and result of each of the above- mentioned treatment varies, depending on an individual’s specific condition. Therefore, it is recommended to consult with a skin specialist, prior to commencing the treatment.
