There are many places that offer car warranties. Your job is to find the one that will give the best coverage for as little cost to you as possible. When you buy a new car, it will be covered by the factory warranty. The length and coverage of the factory warranty will vary with the type of vehicle it is. Generally, most car companies offer the bumper-to-bumper warranty with a length of three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. When your original warranty runs out, you may choose to purchase an extended warranty. You would be able to do so from the dealer, manufacturer, or a warranty company.
If you choose to purchase your warranty from the dealer and manufacturer, expect to pay more. They are much more expensive than if you buy from a warranty company, sometimes as much as 60% more. There are some advantages to buying a warranty from a dealer or manufacturer however. If you plan on taking your car to the dealer for repairs and services, you can be sure that they will honor your warranty without any hassle or troubles. You can also have the peace of mind of the stability of the warranty. You will not have any fear that the company will go out of business, and your warranty will no longer be valid.
When buying an extended warranty, you will need to do your research. Almost all of the top warranty companies can be found in the Internet. You should look for a company that will offer the best policy for your vehicle. A good warranty company cares about its reputation; therefore they should be listed with the Better Business Bureau and D&B. They should also be bonded, meaning they carry extra insurance in order to protect you.
If you are dealing with a reputable warranty company, expect to pay a fair price for a fair policy. They will not be in business long if they are only in the business to make money. They are also trying to save you as much money as they can.
