Calibration is a process in which instruments are marked in accordance to generally accepted values. Calibration equipment is the key to calibration marking. There is a diverse range of calibration equipment available in the United States, with a large number of companies specializing in precision instruments widely used in the industry, defense and commercial establishments.
The importance of calibration instruments is immense. Some of the major calibration equipment that is available is as follows:
The Extech CMM-15R Process Calibrator merges the operational aspect of a calibrator with an MS Multimeter. It has the capacity to trace DC Volts and mA in programmable or phased steps. It is noted for its capability track-down frequency. Some of the salient features of the calibrator equipment include- Simultaneous Source/Simulate and Measure on Large Dual Display, Precision 0.03% Accurate Voltage and Current Calibration Source, and Constant Current Output for Loads.
The Martel PSC-9003 is a complete purpose process signal calibrator, which has the ability of sourcing and reading all recess process signals such as volts, millivolts, milliamps and frequency. This diverse ability of the PSC-9003 makes it suitable for calibrating or monitoring transmitters, recorders, flow instrumentation, data acquisition equipment or any other process instruments requiring these types of signal inputs.
The salient features of the PSC-9003 include 0.05% basic precision on all types. Up to nine (9) calibration set points can be stocked in non-volatile memory for each of the ranges. An auto-step function permits the user to automatically step through each of the stored set points for a specific range at a pre-arranged gap.
An internal 24-volt loop power source enables the unit to power two-wire transmitters while taking note of the current loop. As a simulator, the PSC-9003 can push current loops up to 1000 ohms and can obtain up to +/-1 mA when run in the voltage mode.
