Cabo is most famous for its beaches. Playa del Amor or Lover’s Beach is the most scenic of all. This tranquil beach, one of Baja California’s most celebrated landscapes, is lined by towering rocks. With access to the Pacific Ocean and the Bahia de Cabos San Lucas, it is a wonderful place for snorkeling to explore an old shipwreck, reefs and sea lions. Playa Medano or Dune Beach is ideal for swimming. This is the most popular beach where parties are held. It is also where visitors can try jet skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, parasailing and bungee jumping.
Cabo was named one of the top 15 golf destinations. Golfers love Cabo for their majestic golf courses designed by some of the famous names in golf.
Downtown Cabo is the party hub of the town. Tourists who want to carouse will not be disappointed. Bars showcase about hundreds of varieties of wines and spirits. There are sports bars with dart boards and pool tables. Some clubs feature live music. There is also a gay and lesbian dance club.
For a more historic feel of the place, you can visit the Iglesia de San Lucas (Church of San Lucas) near the main plaza. Streets facing the plaza have the most Mexican settings.
Cabo San Lucas is the ‘Marlin Capital of the World’. However, these fish are protected and a boat can catch only one marlin per day. To be able to fish, you can join one of the many tours being offered. If you want to take your own boat, you must secure a permit from the Oficina de Pesca. If you are not really into fishing, you can join cruises and tours instead.
Mexican cuisine is very tangy. When in Cabo, you have to try their homemade corn tortillas and salsas. Fish dorado tacos and shrimp dishes are superb. Other Mexican favorites include carne asada and chimichangas. Restaurants in Cabo range from pricey romantic ones to affordable, cozy family places. They serve a great selection of seafood dishes and some also offer meat, pasta and desserts.
For souvenirs, you can purchase readymade or custom-made cotton and wool blankets. There are also shops selling antiques, paintings, wooden masks, religious statues and jewelry, wine and Cuban cigars.
There are truly a lot to see and do in Cabot San Lucas. No wonder this paradise is a very hot tourist destination.
