The island nation of Barbados is the perfect vacation destination. It is situated towards the east of the Caribbean Sea, and is a part of the eastern islands of the Lesser Antilles. Nations like Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are its closest neighbors.
This island has only one big airport, the Sir Grantley Adams International Airport. For the Eastern Caribbean, this airport is the main air transportation hub. Barbados is a well-developed island and has many internationally famous hotels offering world-class accommodations. The white and pinkish sandy beaches of the calm Caribbean Sea are one of the main attractions of this beautiful island.
In the main town there are shopping districts with ample duty-free shopping stores. One can enjoy the festive nightlife of tourist areas like the Saint Lawrence Gap. There are plenty of other attractions like jewelry stores, scuba diving, wildlife reserves, helicopter rides, etc.
The most happening place in Barbados for all the commercial activities is Bridgetown, which is also the capital of Barbados. Another hot spot in Bridgetown is the Kensington Oval, which is referred as the “Mecca” of Cricket. Many local and national matches are held there.
November and May are the prime times to visit this island. There are many places for relaxing and enjoying nature. The ones who want a real adventure must visit Bethsheba, on the beautiful eastern seaboard, Harrison’s Cave, Andromeda Gardens and North Point. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this island has been also one of the most-liked holiday spots of American Presidents like Bill Clinton.
