Atlanta implant dentists are involved with the sphere of dental care related to the arrangement and repair of dental implants. The procedure is relatively new and requires highly specialized skills on the part of dentists, as well as extensive training.
Atlanta implant dentists use techniques that involve the utilization of dental implants to replace one or all of a patient’s teeth. During surgery that is required for the technique, the implant is fixed to a selected area arranged in the bone. The surgery is performed with the aid of local anesthesia and generally lasts from half an hour to an hour, depending on the degree of difficulty involved in the surgery.
Specific holes, called osteotomies, are created where there is sufficient bone. An implant that accurately corresponds to each osteotomy is attached to the arranged spaces. The tooth is then coated with gum tissue and amalgamates smoothly with the adjoining bone.
Atlanta dentists then focus upon restoration for the successful completion of the dental implant procedure. They generally wait for a period of 6 to 12 months for the bone to develop around the dental implants. After the completion of the waiting period, the tops are bared and a post positioned into them. An imprint is taken of this post, and then a crown or bridge is structured at the dental laboratory. The finishing restorations are then positioned in the posts in the same manner that normal restorations are carried out.
Subperiosteals are generally positioned on top of the jawbone. Much of the bone is not needed because the subperiosteal does not go into the bone. Two surgery appointments are required for placing subperiosteals. One surgery is used for taking the impression of the bone and the second is essential for positioning the subperiosteal on the bone.
