At Home College Degrees are also referred to as “distance learning”. This could be as low-tech as notes, papers and exams mailed between student and professors, or as high-tech as Internet interaction between them. Students can stay at home and look up the material supplied by the college or simply access their study material through the Internet.
A few colleges make it mandatory for students to visit colleges for a short period of time to attend a lab or an art studio. Competition is increasing and many colleges now offer 100% campus free learning.
At home degrees are legitimate and a student must enroll in a US college that is accredited or at an international college meeting the modified Generally Accepted Accreditation Principles, as per US laws. The Distance Education Training Council accredits such colleges. The US Department of Education is also a regulatory body, responsible for giving recognition to such colleges. If a college is accredited, then all of its programs, majors, and degrees fall under the same umbrella of accreditation, whether such programs are delivered through traditional or distance methods.
Students receiving a distance degree from an accredited institution demonstrate the same level of knowledge and understanding as a traditional student earning the same degree.
Students from all walks of life seek college degrees from home. A majority of middle -aged professionals, with time constraints caused by domestic and work related matters, opt for these degrees. Career driven people would not like to disrupt their work schedule and find it much easier to obtain a degree from home.
Demonstration of a level of knowledge equivalent to that of a regular student who has completed a college-level course can earn credits for the student. These credits are useful in pursuing a degree. College Level Examination Program or CLEP, tests are widely accepted by accredited schools as evidence of college-level competency in various subjects.
The objective of the education industry is to offer more options to prospective students and at home college degrees accelerate the pace of recruiting and providing quality education to every aspiring student, regardless of race, creed or gender.
