Aquarium chillers are used to keep the temperature in control even in any severe temperature abnormality. These chillers operate similar to the refrigerator or an air conditioner. The major need of these chillers is to keep the water temperature in optimum for the tank inhabitants.
Aquarium chillers are classified into two categories: drop-in and in-line. A drop-in chiller cools the water by using the cooling coil which is kept in the sump. This method does not need the process of plumbing. An in-line chiller uses internal cooling coils. In this process, the water is been pumped into the chiller, cooled and then taken back to the sump or the tank. In-line chillers can also be kept remotely from the tank; this is considered to be one of its major advantages.
The operation of this chiller system is controlled by the temperature controllers such as the single stage controller and the dual stage controller. Single stage controllers are used to just control the chiller device. Dual stage controllers control both chiller and the heater. The dual controlling system is used for minimizing the variance and to avoid conflicts.
The significant features of the aquarium chillers are high quality and durability. They are completely enclosed. A digital control system and the Titanium heat exchanger controls and maintains the chiller efficiently. It uses a power range of 110 Volts and is available in large collection of models like the CL-280 which comes with 1/10 HP, CL-650 which comes with ¼ HP, C-0500 which comes with ½ HP and the C-1000 which comes with 1 HP. Aquarium chillers would range around $400 and can exceed up to $1,400 for high capacity models. Chillers with less capacity range would cost you around $100. The Prime in-line chillers 8-watts or 16-watts UV Sterilizer upgrade are two examples of this.
MicroChiller, IceProbe and AquaLogic are a few of the chiller manufacturers who offer you with high quality. Maintaining an Aquarium chiller will be cheaper and minimal than running your air conditioning and offers you high longevity. Temperatures can be varied within 75–82 degree since most of the reef aquariums have a variety of corals. Buying a powerful aquarium chiller is recommended since the price does not vary much in the models of the chillers and would give you enhanced longevity.
