The most common types of scuba equipment are ‘closed circuit’ and ‘open circuit’ equipment.
A closed circuit uses a gas cylinder wherein the diver breathes in and out into the same gas cylinder. This is commonly known as a re-breather. Open circuit equipment provides air for breathing and the diver has to breathe out the waste through an external pipe. The cylinder is almost always worn on the back
Divers wear a buoyancy compensator diving equipment to supply life-saving emergency buoyancy and the ability to control ascent and descent rates. Scuba divers also use diving air compressors. These are machines used to increase the quantity of usable air in a diving cylinder by raising the pressure.
Scuba equipments use electro-galvanic fuel cell, which is an electrical apparatus used to calculate the concentration of oxygen in diving equipment. Gas blending diving cylinders with gas mixes such as nitrox and trimix are also popular amongst scuba divers. Scuba diving is only permitted if one wears a special semi-dry suit or a neoprene wet suit.
Most scuba divers sport the same kind of scuba equipment. However diving in colder areas requires added equipment. Crucial apparatus items in colder conditions are fins, a mask, a tank, gauges and a watch. Depending on the water’s temperature, divers will also wear a wet or dry suit, a hood and gloves. Depth and pressure gauges supply scuba divers with imperative information about their location. A watch and compass are also required to comprehend under water situations.
To prevent hypothermia, divers use thermal insulation in wetsuits and drysuits. Wearing the right equipment goes a long way in protecting a diver against accidents, which could at times be life threatening. Purchasing the right equipment enables one to enjoy without risks, this exciting and adventurous sport It is advisable to seek guidance from an experienced diver and a diving instructor while shopping for scuba equipment.
